Good morning on this Lord’s Day. I do pray that
you have awakened to this new day, Sunday, with a healthy desire to attend worship services at church?
Now having said that allow me to say this. I have spoken to several
people here lately who have informed me that they are depressed. Now depression is a very serious problem for a lot of folks,
no doubt. Depression can literally destroy a persons life and relationships. Is that not right?
Now I know there are meds out there for depression and some times
these meds are needed for some people. Hey, I am not a doctor, but I do know of one pretty good prescription for depression.
A spiritual prescription that is, which is called, “faith.” You see faith does not lock arms with depression,
but where there is faith there will also be joy.
Hear ye the Word of God. “Now the God of hope fill you with
all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”
(Romans 15:13) “Who are kept by the power of God through
faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be,
ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that
perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full
of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:5-9)
In these verse can we not see how faith and belief in God is linked
with joy and rejoicing. They feed off each other. Just look at a person who has lived a life of faith, who has gone deep in
their trust in God. People like that are people who communicate an abundance of powerful joyfulness not depression.
We all want to be like that, yet so few of us are these days.
If your joy is lacking, examine your faith. Are you fully persuaded in the things of God? Are you convinced about whom God
is and what He desires to do on your behalf? If your faith is weak, your joy will be too. But on the other hand if your faith
is strong, then so will your joy be strong. May the Lord build you up in your faith and in so doing, fill you with joy this
Sunday morning.
Maybe you are asking, how can I obtain this faith to bring me
out of the depression I am in? Hear Ye the Word of God. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the
word of God.” (Romans 10:17)
Loving You In Jesus Christ,
