Again we have awakened to a new day which
the Lord Jesus Christ has prepared for us before the foundations of the world. At the beginning of this new day, may I share
with you a couple of my favorite verses from the Gospel of John? We find these precious Words from the mouth of Jesus Christ
in (John 11:25-26) “ Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were
dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
Think about this for moment, In these verses
we find a statement and a question. No statement no question could be more important for us to think very carefully about
this morning. Jesus stakes His word and His person on this promise, and on this statement. If you are spiritually alive and
put your trust and hope in Jesus Christ, then you will never die. Wow what a promise especially in the face of all the decay,
destruction, and death with which we are surrounded on a daily basis.
Is it really possible to escape death, to defy
the laws of nature? Well, Jesus says it is. But not in our own strength, science, or ingenuity. Only in Jesus can we access
the power of a never-ending life. Hear ye the Word of God. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word,
and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto
life.” (John 5:24)
You see believers do not pass away, but pass on
to a better, eternal and abundant life. Christians do not die; they depart for home. We have to trust Him that He is not just
showing us the way, but is the Way, that He not only is telling the truth, but is the Truth; that He is not only speaking
of life, but is the Life.
Then there is the question, “Believest thou
this?” Jesus’ question, then, could not be more important, or more pointed. Do you believe what Jesus says? Do
you trust in Jesus? You see Jesus has determined to work in the behalf of folks only in proportion to their faith in him.
I pray that you understand that?
To anyone, to everyone, to whomsoever puts their
trust in Jesus and believes His word, the promise is yours. So if you have put your faith in Jesus Christ, then live like
you are going to live forever, because you are.
Loving You In Jesus Christ,
Pastor David McGee
