Good morning to all at the beginning of this new day
that the Lord hath given us. I awoke this morning, feeling lead to pray for and to thank God for all married couples.
As I look around at so many couples today living together and
having sex outside marriage. Many of those couples having children out of wedlock. I never thought I would live to see the
day when couples living together would be so common. Matter of fact it is so common most folks see nothing wrong with it.
But Jehovah God, Jesus Christ calls it sin, adultery, fornication. And it is the destruction of the family.
Now having said that, let’s take a close look at marriage
in God’s Word. God takes a very strong stand when it comes to marriage so much so that every believer, whether they're
single or married, needs to have a strong understanding of it. We need to understand that God describes marriage as something
“honorable.” Notice (Hebrews 13:4) “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers
and adulterers God will judge.”
First notice the Bible says that “marriage is honorable.”
Now just what does the word honorable mean? Well I am glad you asked, in the original Greek language that the Book of Hebrews
was written in, the word honorable comes from the word timios, which means to hold in high esteem or to highly respect something.
It's the same word that's used to describe the gemstones that adorn the very foundation of heaven as described in (Revelation
21:19). And it's the same word Peter used to describe Christ's redeeming blood in (1 Peter 1:19). Now, consider the value
we attach to heaven's gemstones and to Christ's blood, and apply it to marriage. From God's perspective, it's the same. Marriage
isn't something that God is just OK with. No, it's something that He highly esteems and respects.
Now on the other hand consider the last part of (Hebrews 13:4)
“but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” All sexual sins, and all violations of the marriage covenant,
will be severely punished by God. (1 Corinthians 6:9) tells us, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall
not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers
of themselves with mankind.”
The sins of adultery and fornication are prevalent everywhere
today.
God help us to see the importance and sanctity of marriage.
And God help us to see the sin and ugliness of living together.
