By The Way Of The Cross

THE PREACHING OF THE CROSS

1 Cor. 1:17-25

An unsaved man has no idea of what really happened on the cross of Calvary. If there is anything that should be very clear about our testimony to the world, it should be our preaching of the cross.

However, I find that people who KNOW the truth of the cross do not MAJOR in that truth when dealing with the issues of salvation. We must remember, "the cross of Jesus" we must continue to preach and teach the cross. The cross is the way of salvation.

It does a sinner little good for him to be told to pray for forgiveness if he has not heard the message of the cross. Prayer is not the power of God to save the lost; the CROSS is. Many unbelievers have been told to invite Jesus into their hearts and lives, but they have not been told what was accomplished for their sins on the cross of Calvary.

Let us review the importance of the preaching of the cross this morning!

The preaching of the cross reveals

       A. Obedient unto death, even the death of the cross

    3. He was the substitute God accepted

        B. He was made a curse for us

III. GOD’S GUARANTEE OF ETERNAL LIFE

      (John 5:24) (1 John 5:13)

    1. Eternal life has been perfected by Jesus Christ

        (the resurrection)

    2. Eternal life is promised by the word of God (Luke 19:10)

    3. Eternal life is possessed by the believing sinner

IV. GOD’S GIFT OF LOVE (IJohn 4:10)

    1. His gift of love is precious
