Just Who Is Jesus Christ? Do We Really Need To Know?

What Jesus Said About Himself

John 8:19-25

By the grace of God we were able to begin a series a few weeks ago, "What Jesus Said." Our first sermon, message from God, was "What Jesus Said About Baptism." Jesus told us that baptism is a proclaimation. An outward picture of an inward work. We, in baptism,  proclaim to everyone that we have committed our lives to Jesus.

And we were able to have baptismal services at Northfield Dam. Then last week Jesus gave us a message, "What Jesus Said About Salvation." Remember Jesus told us that you cannot "truely" be baptized unless you are "truely" saved. Jesus told us that salvation is narrow, necessary, and a new birth.

Now this Sunday the message in this series is, "What Jesus said about Himself." Remember you cannot be "truely" baptized unless you are "truely" saved. And today we will learn that you cannot be "truely" saved unless you "truely" know Jesus Christ.

So let's see the scriptures say about Jesus Christ.

I. HIS EVERLASTING DIETY (John 10:27-30) My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.

Jesus’ diety is proven in His word by His:

    1. His purity (IICort. 5:21) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

         A. Jesus never sinned!

         B. Jesus is completely holy, for He is GOD!

    2. His perception

        A. Jesus is omniscience, He knows all.

    3. His perseverance

       A. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever! Praise God! (Heb.13:8)

II. HIS ETERNAL PRESENCE (Jh.1:1-3)

    1. He created the world

    2. He conquered death and rose from the grave

    3. He has cleansed sinners by His blood for the last 2,000 years

    4. He is coming again to this world

    5. He will create a new heaven and a new earth III. HIS EXCEEDING POWER (Jer. 10:12) He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.(Mat. 28:18) And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

    1. He is able to save your soul

    2. He is able to supply your needs (Phlip 4:19)

    3. He is able to strengthen your walk

    4. He is able to send you out as a witness and soul-winner

    5. He is able to summon you Home

IV. HIS EXCLUSIVE PARDON (Isa. 55:7) Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

    1. Christ's pardon is full

       A. It pays for our past, present and future sins!

    2. Christ's pardon is free (Eph. 2:8-9)

        A. It's not cheap, but it is free!

    3. Christ's pardon is forever! (Psa. 103:10-12) He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

      A. Salvation is eternal!

      B. No believer can lose God's salvation! It is God's GIFT!
